报告题目:Predictive modeling and forecasting of vector mosquito abundance and risk of West Nile virus in Toronto
报告摘要:West Nile virus, as an emerging mosquito-borne diseases first appeared in North America in 1999. Since then, the virus has spread to almost all the North America continent. In this talk I will first briefly introduce the surveillance program for West Nile virus in Ontario, Canada. As vectors for the West Nile virus, the abundance of culex mosquitoes are closely related with weather conditions and landscape of the region. I will introduce our predictive modeling and weekly forecasting of culex mosquito abundance and risk of human infection of West Nile virus for public health agencies. Then, I will continue to discuss bifurcations and dynamics associated with outbreaks and recurrence of mosquito-borne diseases. I will end the talk by presenting some challenges for studying the mosquito abundance and transmission of mosquito-borne diseases.

报告人简介:朱怀平,2000年获加拿大蒙特利尔大学数学博士学位,后在滑铁卢大学,佐治亚理工学院从事博士后研究工作。现任加拿大约克大学教授,并 行计算与模拟实验室主任。长期从事动力系统分支理论及其应用、希尔伯特第十六问题、生物数学、气候变化模拟和影响、以及蚊虫疾病 的实时预报和控制等研究工作。
